Finally !! Desert Season.

Desert season (October-March) is when we do most of our Jeeping and camping.  We kicked it off this season with a trip to the Truckhaven area near Salton City.  I have to admit it takes a lot of work and effort to get us all out there, but I think it's worth it.  The boys are already asking when we're going camping again.
It was hot in the middle of the day, about 96 degrees, but we spent that part of the day in the shade and playing with water.

A little wheeling, a little geocaching, and hanging with friends.

This used to much more of a cave, but it has collapsed in recent years.  The Salton City area gets a lot of earthquake activity; it's on the south tip of the San Andreas fault.

This is an insane new obstacle at the Truckhaven 4x4 Training Facility.  I'd never attempt it in my Jeep, but we had fun playing around on it for a bit.

Sounds like a lot of good times ahead for the season! You piqued our interest and we looked into Geo Caching here- a little bit happening and seems to be growing in popularity, hope it gets bigger as we are out bushwalking or beach walking anyhow- a bit of extra never goes a-stray
