Tent testing

We had a back yard camp out last weekend and tested our new family size tent.   It's your basic cheapy tent, but it should be fine for beach camping and the odd desert trip if we leave the toyhauler at home.

Caidan was just a little excited about it in case you can't tell from the picture.
Collin is so easy breezy, he never gives us a hard time about going to bed.  If everyone around him is happy, he's happy.

This is our crawdad fishing spot at one of our favorite local hiking areas.  Typically we just bring a string with a little bait in a zip lock bag, snag a couple of crawdads then continue on with our hike and/or geocaching.  Catch and release of course.

We used to bring home buckets full of these critters from the park pond when we were kids, just to show everyone I guess. We didn't know what to do with them after that so we'd just leave them in the bucket by the back door in the summer sun.  Yeah, Mom was never too happy about that.

More projects:
This one is a compost tumbler for the garden.  I don't know how glad Sheri was to hear that this is her birthday present, but Caidan & I had fun putting it together.

I found the 55 gallon food grade drum on Craigslist (of course) and the wood was leftovers we already had.
The galvanized pipe axle connects to a flange fitting.  Hopefully it will still be easy to turn when it has the weight of the compost in it.
