Like'n the Hike'n

We went out for some hiking with the boys last week and this weekend as well, so we're on a roll. Sheri and I both need the exercise and the boys are always up for an adventure. These pictures are from Oak Riparian Park, a few miles from our house. Nice and mellow, not too difficult for the boys to negotiate.

Saw lots of stuff...including poison oak. "Stay on the trail Caidan."

Low bridge. "Duck Collin."

A couple of water crossings added to the ambiance. Nice to get away from the concrete jungle for a couple of hours.

This weekend's the trip was to Double Peak in San Marcos. There's a bunch of trails criss-crossing the hills in the area. Starting from Discovery Lake we climbed up, up, and more up towards Double Peak. After about an hour and a half we decided to head back because it was getting pretty hot out and we'd left our lunch at the car. As usual Sheri & I end up doing double duty by carrying the kids part of the way. No camera today, but we did bring the gps and we found 4 geocaches along the way. Maybe we'll make it all the way to the summit next weekend if we're able to get an earlier start and beat the heat. Rumor has it there's a park and Ranger Station at the top.
