Calico Ghost Town

We've been busy. Desert camping season is in full swing now. We kicked it off with a trip back to Calico Ghost Town for some wheeling and camping with friends. Hard to believe it, but the last time we were there was three years ago. We arrived a day before the rest of our group so we could spend a full day at the Ghost Town. We covered it all, a mine tour, train ride, hiking, etc. etc. A blacksmith made some neat little horse shoes for the boys.

Caidan got a chance to use his new taillights on the Power Wheels Jeep. Maybe I'll hook up some headlights too, but I'll need to add another battery to run all that stuff.

We also tried out some new car seats in the back of the Jeep. Collin is now old enough to go on some easy rides. We found some really narrow car seats that worked out pretty well. Our first short afternoon ride put them both to sleep. That's one way to get them to take a nap. Usually there's just too much stuff going on when we're camping to get anyone to slow down enough for a nap.

Lunch break in Odessa Canyon.

Another dirt lover as you would expect.

I only took Caidan on this run since we were going to be out for a long time and it was more bumpy than Collin is ready for. Caidan is really good in the Jeep. This trip we had an older boy in the group that befriended him and kept him company. We've also discovered that a walkman player with cassettes of his favorite kids songs is a good thing to have with us to give him a change of pace. Yeah, there's no stereo in the Jeep.
